Hawkes Wins Blackville By-Election; Elected New Mayor
The unofficial results of today’s by-election have been tabulated and the village of Blackville has a new mayor! Candidate Andrew Hawkes has been elected with a total of 343 votes, besting Glen Hollowood’s 132 votes.
The mayoral seat had been filled by Deputy Mayor Matt Sturgeon since May when Hal Muck stepped down for personal reasons. Sturgeon returns to his post as councillor, alongside Cindy Ross and Christopher Hennessy.
Hawkes is currently serving as a volunteer member of the Village of Blackville Rural Plan Working Group.
