Renous Native Caitie McCabe Representing NB at Canada Winter Games

Team New Brunswick recently announced the final rosters of the 19 teams that will represent the province at the 2015 Canada Winter Games to take place February 13 to March 1 in Prince George, British Columbia.

Among those selected is Renous native Caitie McCabe for female hockey. The grade 12 student currently plays on the Rothesay Netherwood School Varsity Girls team.

“These talented youth have developed their skills in every corner of our province thanks to the many community partners and organizations that are helping families and making sport affordable and accessible to New Brunswickers,” said Healthy and Inclusive Communities Minister Cathy Rogers.

RNS Varsity Girls’ Hockey Coach Kayla Blackmore adds, “Each player is able to reflect on this opportunity, recognize the development they have shown in pursuit of their dreams, and be very proud of themselves for the hard work and dedication they have demonstrated throughout the process. This is a dream come true for these athletes, each of them overcoming challenges and adversity along the way. As a coach, I could not be more proud of them.”

The Canada Games alternate every two years between summer and winter games and are one of the largest multi-sport events held in the country with about 3,000 athletes and 19 sports. Team New Brunswick will be represented by 205 athletes, 60 coaches, managers and technical staff and 16 mission team members. The team is led by Chef de Mission Sherry Doiron.
