In Remembrance of Former Village Councillor Eileen Corney
Eileen Olive Corney, formerly of Blackville, passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Parkland in the Valley, Quispamsis, at the age of 87.
Born in Blackville, she was the daughter of the late Stanford and Catherine (Yeo) Connors. She was a homemaker and a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Blackville.
She was a member of Trinity Anglican Church Women and was Treasurer for this group for over 50 years. She was very interested in politics at every level and served two terms on the Blackville Village Council. In that role she was active with the Solid Waste Commission. She was also a proud supporter of the Conservative Party both federally and provincially.
She will be sadly missed by her daughters Lydia Underhill, of Halifax, NS, and Rhonda Thibeault (John) of Quispamsis; son John (Thelma) of Miramichi; sister Muriel Thompson (Gerald) of Moncton; four grandchildren Jill Johnston (Jeffrey), Catherine Underhill (Brent Geikie), Emilie Thibeault, and Alexander Thibeault; great granddaughter Ramona Geikie; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Omer Corney; three brothers Sheldon Connors, Charles Connors, and Bently Connors; two sisters Eva Stevens and Elva Vezina; and son-in-law Terrance Underhill.
The family will receive relatives and friends from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Blackville, on Monday, June 27, 2016, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, at 11 am, with Father Laskey officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall, after the burial.
As expression of sympathy, donations may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
